SVS202: Getting Started Building Your First Serverless Web Application

Resources for SVS202: Getting started building your first serverless web application

In this talk, Emily Shea will share first-hand experience and practical steps for getting started building serverless web applications. Outside of her role as an AWS partner development manager, Emily wanted to build a solution to an every day problem: regularly practicing a second language. This talk will walk through the process of evolving that solution from a single AWS Lambda function into a fully-featured web application that uses Amazon API Gateway, AWS Lambda, Amazon DynamoDB, Amazon QuickSight, the AWS Amplify Console, and more. You will come away with an understanding of first, how serverless is a great toolset for experimenting with new ideas and projects, and second, how the extensibility and modularity of serverless applications allows you to start small, adding features and complexity as your serverless skill set and business needs evolve.
